Inspired Leadership, Heart-Centered Approach
Leadership approaches are quickly shifting in today's hyper-connected, always on world. Leaders are navigating at a global scale, guiding teams across time zones, cultural boundaries and communication differences. Now more than ever, inspiration and heart are critical factors to ensuring team cohesion, alignment and performance and the leader/follower type of leadership is ill-equipped to adapt to the changing business landscape.
A NEW APPROACH TO LEADERSHIP
POWER WITH, NOT POWER OVER
In Linda Kohanov’s book The Five Roles of A Master Herder, she takes an in-depth look at traditional herding cultures where tribes must manage large groups of powerful animals without the benefit of fences. As a result, Master Herders employ a sophisticated understanding of leadership and group cohesion as they move through seasonal grazing lands, facing predators, and dealing with changing climates/resources along the way. This knowledge, virtually lost to modern “civilized” leaders, is based in part on the little-known fact that among cattle and horses, the herd leader and the herd dominant are often different animals. Furthermore, group coordination and solidarity are reinforced through daily acts of companionship and nurturing. Our Leading From the Heart workshop explores the Five Roles of the Master Herder in an accelerated learning environment where participants develop the ability to build and enhance emotional and social intelligence. Through facilitated interactions with horses, participants gain practical, real-world skills to develop trust-based relationships, strengthen authentic communication and create collaborative team environments.
